The inner workings of Secure Digital cards

Ever wonder what’s inside of that little SD card in your camera or smart phone? You might be amazed to learn that each of those incredibly little memory devices has a large capacity memory chip in it and a small but powerful microprocessor. The microprocessor chip serves as a control board to access solid state storage in the memory portion of the SD card. The size and speed of each of these components varies in direct proportion to the amount of memory provided. So obviously a large secure digital high capacity SDHC card needs a faster processor so as to retrieve information at an acceptable speed.

Unfortunately larger capacity SD cards are more susceptible to file loss during transfer. And as we usually use SD cards for storage of photographs taken on our digital camera we can very often find ourselves needing software to restore lost data from SD card media. This same software program can be used to undelete pictures from SD card storage that have been deleted due to human error.
