Microsoft Outlook stores all of your messages, customizations, and settings in a special database type file known as a PST. The PST file is a simple text operated database somewhat similar to mySQL. As with any text operated database file, access to table information is granted through a header process. The PST file headers catalog and store important information such as messages and calendar functions. Access to stored information can be denied if these headers are damaged or corrupted. Damage to your Microsoft PST file can occur in many ways. One of these happens when we download a message with a virus attached to it. The virus corrupts the PST file by attempting to renew itself and send clones of itself to all of your Email addresses.
The best way to recover Outlook PST information that was damaged by a virus is to extract from the PST file all the core data. This information is then reloaded into a “clean” empty PST file. This is not so much a way to repair Outlook inbox corruption as it is a means to sidestep it by placing the still valid information into an essentially new inbox.
